Product Description

For twenty-three years, Naina has saved herself for the Indian man that her parents have chosen for her to marry. Ashok, the man they've chosen, is handsome, kind and considerate. Although she has only met him twice, Naina knows that he will make a good husband. There's just one small problem: Dave. Goodlooking and charming, Dave is everything that Ashok is not. An unreliable rogue and incorrigible womaniser, Dave is bad news. Naina knows that. And with six months to go until her wedding day, she knows she should keep well away from him. So why can't she stop herself? As for Dave, he's met the only woman he's ever really regarded as a friend: the one woman whose knickers he can't get into. And as such, he finds Naina irresistible...

I found this book to be of the "can't put down" variety. The cultural conflict which some British-born Asian women face through their "coconut" lifestyles is reproduced by Nisha in a highly funny yet accurate way in this book. Sympathy and frustration for Naina can be found easily and although Dave is annoying in his ignorance, he is likeable and the strive to confirm the obvious outcome is addictive. Highly recommended.

Waste of time 29 May 2008
Format:Paperback
This has got to be the most awful book i have read in a long, long time. It went straight into the recycling bin once i'd finished with it! Absolutely no depth to the characters and it had the most predictable story ever.

The references to sex got on my nerves as they were so frequent and unnecessary. The author had to resort to mentioning it in every other paragraph in order to keep the reader engaged (didn't work). As an Asian girl i found this book far fetched and ridiculous...it actually made me quite angry!

Had me in Stitches 23 Aug 2002
Format:Paperback
I've already read the book twice, I enjoyed it so much. It was like one of those movies where you are afraid to laugh in case you miss a joke. I think the author Nisha Minhas handles the tricky topic of arranged marriages with flair, sensitivity and humour. I hope this book is the first of many - rest assured I will be praising this book at every opportunity to my friends.

I couldn't finish it
I simply couldn't get past the writers over-the-top random descriptions of things that had nothing to do with the story. Did they not have an editor for this book? Read more

This book was predicatable as you read into the sixth chapeter, it is well written by Nisha but apart from that only recommend this book if you have nothing better to read.
