A young man is about to get married to Jesse (Elisabeth Harnois.) He is getting second thoughts about taking the plunge. He is cornered by the bride's father Frank Allen (Ryan Reynolds) on the way to the exit. And here the groom is told in detail and an extensive flashback how the chaos theory works (or not.)

The essence of the story starts with a wife setting a clock off 10 minutes trying to give her well organized husband an extra 10 minutes but inadvertently loses 10 minutes and it snowballs into chaos. I will not go through the many details as the surprise twists are what give value to this story. However the father explains that you cannot plan on events, but you can choose to love.

With some of the almost slapstick actions and not likely events I can see how someone would take this as a comedy. At least this has a fresher formula that all those girl meets, guy misunderstands guy, later realizes mistake and they go off happily ever after stories.

I would say that it is at least worth watching so that you can make your own decision as to whether this presentation was worth the effort. For me I'm still not too sure.

I'm sure it's a 'not bad' film with decent drama about extreme forgiveness (just so long it's not you) and not everyone will feel comfortable with the story verging on Political Correctness, left me with a little yuk taste in my mouth unfortunately. I like his Definitely Maybe film much, much better, must watch film.

I actually now think I can watch anything with Ryan Reynolds. This film is not bad at all although at first I thought it was slow going. I don't think that Ryan Reynolds can do a serious film he always bring a comedic element to his part.

Before purchasing this DVD I had read some reviews on Lovefilm and IMDB, and they were mixed, but mostly negative advising people to not waste money or time. Some even said it was a girly movie, now that is perplexing I tell you now, because although it is not in line with some of his recent 'Action Hero' roles in films such as Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it does not come anywhere near 'girly film' status. If you expect either his 'gun slinging action flick' persona or his rom-com prince side, you will probably be surprised in what you find.

Chaos Theory is among his more quirky, unusual roles (see The Nines as a comparison), and I for one like seeing the many faces of Ryan Reynolds, he is more diverse and adaptable than most think. And If you are like me and enjoy quirky, interesting movies on occasion, then this might be to your liking, even if not usually a Reynolds fan.

The film itself had an enjoyable, interesting concept and I did find myself supporting and liking the protagonist (Reynolds). Having said that, although a very relatable character and overall concept, I was left feeling at times more could have been made of its potential. But it was enjoyable nonetheless.

On the subject of it being a foreign import, and being subtitled, it in fact has all the English dialogue (so its not overdubbed with english subtitles). Rather it automatically contains Danish subtitles that can either be simply ignored, or otherwise switched off fairly easily 'in-movie' with your remote etc.

For any Ryan Reynolds fan, who knows the wide range of films/roles he has on his CV, and has the urge to add to their collection of his movies, then this lesser known film is a must.

I will say I managed to find myself a copy of this as I saw the trailer and really wanted to see this, and I am glad I did it is one of Ryan Reynolds best performances. I think he is superb in this as he brings his serious side, hence the beard, and also comedy. I think this is a must-watch for everyone!
