I have a living room setup with two Sony SS-F7000 floor-standing speakers. This amp powers them very nicely for my purposes. To me it sounds perfect - strong bass (main concern before buying) and with bass/treble controls that I leave set in the middle. In this fairly small room, I use it up to about 1/2 volume (at which point it is way too loud).

I don't want the complexity of a Stereo receiver with source selector, and so I combined this amp with a simple mixer.
This way I can have all my sources always on, it's just a matter of starting/stopping them.

I am going to replicate this setup for all my rooms, potentially with a smaller speaker like SS-B3000 which I already have a pair of (also sound ok with this amp). The single sound source in the other rooms will be an Apple Airport Express, for sound distribution. So far I'm really pleased with the sound setup - simple, cheap, and music to my ears.

This amp is the perfect item for someone looking to hook up there tv to a nice set of speakers for there dvd, xbox, ps3, skyhd ect.. The volume is great(can go realy loud) Suports most speakers (all ive tried) 1 hdmi out put- its all you need though and 4 hdmi inputs, 6 av inputs, 2 audio inputs-for ipods ect.. radio is great. Well worth the price, if you searched around you could not find a cheeper one. But overall the product is sweet!!!!

not bad 14 Mar 2012

This arrived the next day as promised and took just a little while to set up. It is now hooked up to the HDMI on a DVD player, the HDMI on a cyclone media player the HDMI on the TV with the TV audio out going back to the Ricco amp aux input. I'm not sure how well it works on 5.1 as I only use it in 3.1 mode which works fine for me.

Its good to be able to switch to the various HDMI inputs via the remote but make sure you have the correct HDMI 1.3 spec cable as I had to buy a new one to get the media player to work. Don't be tempted to buy expensive HDMI cables either as its digital and the cheap 1.3 spec ones will work just as good, got mine for £1 at a everything for a pound shop!

The down side for me was the fan noise as on low setting or when in standby mode it can be very noticeable. But.. that was cured by opening up the unit and replacing the fan with an Arctic Cooling Arctic F8 Pro TC. This fan is a low noise computer case fan that runs at 500 rpm and has a temperature sensor which kicks in when the inside temperature of the unit rises above 40c and makes it run faster when needed. Its fairly easy to replace and for the extra cost of £7.29 the unit is now whisper quiet.

All in all I'm pleased with the purchase and it looks cool too.
