Anthony Browne has become our family's favourite author. Myself, and my two children aged 7 and 3 all enjoy sitting down together and reading his books. If you have children in these age ranges you will appreciate what an amazing feat this is! The first book we read was 'Changes' when my now 7 year old was only 3. My youngesst has now turned 3 and has also become fascinated with looking for new things in the pictures each and every time we pick the book up. Changes is our number one Anthony Browne book and I can't recommend him to other families strongly enough. Anthony Browne raises interesting subjects in his books. Changes broaches the subject of introducing a new baby into the family in a light mannered and humourous way. The subjects of his book vary from examining selfishness, bullying, friendship and even sexism! (Piggybook). Browne also has a character called Willy in some of his stories that my son absolutely adores and in 'Willy's Pictures' I was able to introduce him to artists such as van Gogh, Frieda Kahlo and Leonardo da Vinci! I genuinely enjoy bedtime reading with any of Browne's books; however, the illustrations are the reason I believe this author deserves his title "The Children's Laureate 2009-2011."
