I have this habbit of liking albmus that are not available or quite rare - and in some cases, I just cannot understand why.
This CD spins in my stereo system while I'm writing this review - amazingly the first review for this fabulous album. This CD, Vanessa Amorosi's second studio album (the third cd in her catalogue, if you consider the Turn To Me compliation that had some rare tracks), was released only in Germany in 2002. Its shelf-life period was also limited, and the album fell quickly from the radar there. In other countries it's almost impossible to find this one, but trust me - it's really not the music's fault.
I had the lucky opportunity of finding this Album in a used CD store, by chance, and I'm really glad I did find it! Vanessa has a gorgeous voice, strong and clear -she really shines on fast numbers, and she sounds soulful on slower ones. This album is full with good songs, and it's really hard to pick up the favorites from it. I listen to it, and feel the need to almost get up and dance to the beats that surround me. There some standouts on this album, however, to my taste: Turning Up The Heat, Dream, the title song Chage & Lifted Up. But the others are great as well. If you do find the way to purchase this engergetic and lovely album, note that there's no need to get Vanessa's Greatest Hits cd, since there are no less than eight songs from the album 'Change' on the Greatest Hits cd. On the other hand, if you'll get the Greatest Hits cd, you're getting almost the entire Change cd. So think with yourself what you perfer the best. I, personally, I'm more keen on studio albums than compilations, really, and am already planning to get her next two studio albums, 'Somewhere In The Real World' and 'Hazardous' in the near future (expensive as they are as import, she's such a talented and gifted singer, it's really woroth it!).
If you're a true fan of Vanessa Amorosi's wonderful music, don't pass on this album, even if you have to find it used from some online store in Germany... I'll treasure this hidden splendid album as long as my ears are able to listen to music.
Hope this was helpful, Angie.
