5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book With Some Good Ideas 18 Jan 2011
By Michael Scott VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I have been a fan of NLP for years now but in the medical and counselling field. The science behind NLP is to deconstruct language and look for excellence to model and it works across many many areas and this particular book focuses on the business field.

There are many very good questions in this book like 'What would you do if you knew your business couldn't fail?' which was one I spent a day working through in my head.

A very very good read, easy to pick up and hard to put down and one of those books you'll keep going back to.

A good price and strongly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice introduction, questionable concepts 22 April 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
this is a nicely written book, exploring the NLP concepts accessibly. I suppose, underneath it all, it probably lacks the real credibility of cognitive approaches to change management, and relies a little too much on a culture-bound set of constructs and values, but does give a useful framework, and at least one approach to understanding resistances in change processes.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Middle-manager's influencing guide 11 Jan 2013
By Rendition VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Influence in an organisation is a subtle thing, and relies as much on ones powers of observation as being able to use the right words in the right situation. Whereas this book will do nothing for your powers of observation, it will help you understand how to phrase things.

This will not appeal to the experienced change manager or professionals who are used to dealing with organisational change on a daily basis, but it will appeal to middle managers who need to make a start in the influencing game. You will need to buy other books that are more focused on a step-by-step instruction, but this book is a good primer for those taking their first dip.

To some of us, NLP is something you know by name if not by effect.
