Product Description

· Formed in Italy but taking their influences from America, CHANGE began as a studio project in Bologna in 1979.

· Released in 1984, CHANGE OF HEART was the group's fifth studio album. It marked something of a new direction, as former members of The Time, JIMMY JAM and TERRY LEWIS, were hired to write and produce material for the album.

· CHANGE OF HEART's title track returned CHANGE to the R&B single charts in the US, becoming a #7 hit. The track was also successful internationally, reaching the UK Top 20. YOU ARE MY MELODY also charted in the UK and IT BURNS ME UP gave the group a further US R&B hit single.

· As well as spinning making #15 on the US R&B album chart, CHANGE OF HEART gave the group their first UK hit album, peaking in the Top 40 and staying on the album chart for an impressive 17 weeks throughout the summer of 1984.

· BBR is very proud to present CHANGE OF HEART in full and expanded form, complete with extensive liner notes that feature interviews along with added bonus tracks. In addition, the album features a new 12" re-edit of the title track.

· Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases this BBR re-master is a must have for all Soul, Funk and R&B fans out there!

To sum up how perfect the pairing of Italian/American group Change with Minneapolis' Jam & Lewis was in 1984 is difficult in print. But take one listen to this CD and it will be instantly clear. This is Eighties Soul/Dance at it's very best. Thanks to BBR, it finally sounds and looks amazing on CD. I simply cannot recommend this title highly enough. A true classic to behold.

A great great consistent group whose music is timeless. Tracks that you forgot about sound absolutely great in this era. Bass guitar licks are brilliant, vocals always strong.

My All Time Favorite 14 Aug 2000
By Anthony - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
All the years I have been listening to music and without any exaggeration, THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ALBUM. When it came out in 1984, I listened to this album almost every day for 8 months and many times, more than once a day. This CD was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis so you know it is trustworthy. All 8 songs are very good (So Far Away, Change of Heart, You Are My Melody, Warm, just to name a few). Great tracks to go along with great lyrics and vocals. "Change" was one of the most underrated R&B groups of all time. If I was to sample or remake any songs, "Change" would be one of the first groups I would look into. Too much good music to go unnoticed. 5 Stars is an insult <smile>

A "Change" for the Better! 1 Nov 2011
By Starr - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Since 1980, Change had been putting out consistently excellent material courtesy of Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malvasi (along with the B.B.& Q. Band and High Fashion to name a couple) In 1984, this Italian based band touched down in Minneapolis for a funk infusion courtesy of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis'newly thriving Flyte Tyme Productions. Within only two years, Flyte Tyme's signature style was present and instantly recognizable in outings from Klymaxx, The S.O.S. Band, Cheryl Lynn, Gladys Knight and the Pips and Cherrelle.

The results?...a Top 10 R&B hit single in the title cut and a Top 20 R&B album (U.S. #15)! Other key cuts include the gorgeous ballad, "Say You Love Me Again," which featured Deborah Cooper's very sensual lead vocals duetting with those of Rick Brennan; The two vocalists boasted an awesome musical chemistry much along the lines of Alex and Cherrelle, Mary and Abdul, Rick and Teena, Nick and Valerie and Peabo or Donny and Roberta.

Also key are "Warm," "You Are My Melody" and the stacatto closer, "It Burns Me Up," the album's second single, which has one of the most bumpin' basslines ever written in Old School R&B. Just listen to that 808 percolating under Cooper's deliciously stacatto vocal delivery!

"Change of Heart" was a change indeed and a change for the BETTER after having previously scored with classic songs like "A Lover's Holiday," "Searchin'," "The Glow of Love," "The Very Best in You" and the pulsating, "Paradise." If you're a fan of Change and Post-Disco formats of the early 80's a la Chic, but without all the extravagant string arrangements, this one is required listening.

After "Change of Heart," came "Turn on Your Radio," their poor-selling swansong album withOUT Flyte Tyme, which featured a minor hit in the beautiful "Let's Go Together" also on Atlantic. In 1992, Cooper would go on to join C&C Music Factory on their song, "Keep It Comin" from the "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" soundtrack.

When it comes to staple bands in the Old School R&B tradition, Change is one such outfit who not only crafted their output intelligently, but who also enjoyed a career full of longevity as a result of a "signature" sound despite a "revolving door" lineup.

Solid album from a group that always been good at "changing" with the times without ruining themselves 23 Oct 2007
By Glen Zimmerman - Published on Amazon.com
Starting out as an early 80s disco group (that occasionally featured singing by Luther Vandross), Change made some changes to their style as the decade progressed, and here (in 1984) their disco is exchanged for the poppy-R&B sound being made big at that time by artists like The S.O.S. Band and Loose Ends. Of note are the hit title track, and the catchy ditties "Lovely Lady" and "It Burns Me Up".

2 Other Album/LPs Of CHANGE Should Be On Album/CD 10 April 2007
By Walter E. Partee - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Oh Yeah!!! I definetly love this album; "CHANGE OF HEART" , which was released in Spring of 1984. This album is a BLAST. But I got 6 album/LP of Change, including CHANGE OF HEART. There are 2 album/LPs; "THIS IS YOUR TIME" * 1983 and "TURN ON YOUR RADIO" * 1985 are not on CD. If there`s a way put have these album/CD titles on CD. I would definetly buy them. ________Walter Partee from Tennessee.
