Book 3 "The Realm" series.
Plot:
Breanna has a Quest from the God Chance. By the odds, Terrence has been given the same one. Together they must destroy The Boundary to save the souls, in spite of The Higher Powers interference.
Comments:
- Contemporary paranormal (magic, alternate reality, shape-shifting) romance with a few explicit bedroom scenes.
- 3186 kindle locations, 66,300 words
- m/f - spicy, infrequent, much anticipated. Caring and loving.
- Despite being the third book in a series, "Chance's Game" would stand alone. There are characters and events from the other books which affect this one, but not having read them wouldn't harm the reader's enjoyment. But I liked the others, they do set the World and Climactic Events in motion, and they had nice stories. You should read them too. *nods encouragingly*
- Some disappointing proofreading issues in my e-version, including wrong names in places, misplaced words and formatting problems. Enough to annoy but doesn't overall detract from a good story.
Opinion:
As the third (and probably final) book in the series, "Chance's Game" brings all the stories together to complete our tale. At the end of Take A Chance, Samantha had just found her sister Breanna, who in turn meets a mysterious stranger when she goes to get an explanation from her father. The epilogue of The Hunter has the boundary between The Realm and the mundane world come down. Both of these events are critical turning points in "Chance's Game". As well as that, some of the characters from the other books pop up - obviously Samantha and her husband's family, but also Nat from Book 2 plays a cameo role. It's a nice touch and makes the whole series a 5 star series.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Chance's Game". Again, it's a little slow going, but it has plenty of snippets of dry humour and colourful characters to keep us reading... which I can't expand on because those surprising bursts of anachronistic humour and lol one-liners is what makes a Langlais story *special*. It's a good book in a nice series, which is disappointingly brought down by some proofreading issues. Nothing dramatic, but I won't give it the five stars it deserves for the intelligent, clever, funny storyline.
Highly recommended for a smart romantic fantasy with erotic tendencies.
