RKO Radio Pictures presents "CHANCE AT HEAVEN" (1933) (71 min/B&W) -- Starring: Ginger Rogers, Joel McCrea, Marian Nixon, Andy Devine, Lucien Littlefield, Virginia Hammond, George Meeker, Ann Shoemaker
Directed by William A. Seiter
Blackstone 'Blacky' Gorman, rising service station owner, is blessed with the devotion of supremely sweet and noble Marje Harris, but he meets coquettish and silly debutante Glory Franklyn and, between Glory's charm and his social ambition, is snared into an upscale marriage that proves to have its downside.
McCrea and Rogers were very fond of this film, but they would have to wait until Primrose Path to get another decent film together.
Not on the same level as the screenplay of Primrose Path, in that film both actors are at their best, loaded with all the drama one could ask for.
One of my favorite character actors appear, Mr. George Meeker - in many films he is a scene stealer.
