Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Champneys is a fashionable chain of British health resort and Adam Palmer is the group's executive chef. Like the resorts, Palmer's recipes are distinctly upmarket--no bare lettuce leaves here. Instead, there's "Chilled Roasted Vegetable Soup", "Crab Cakes with Fruit and Ginger Chutney" and "Fillet of Beef with Thai Green Risotto". Palmer gives scientific explainations of why his food philosophy ("Moderation; Balance and Variety") works and suggests ways of integrating this into a healthy eating plan. The fat and fibre content of each recipe is coded with easy-to- interpret symbols. --Carina Trimingham --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Adam Palmer has devised a selection of truly delicious meals which are high in flavour & interest and low in fat. It is a food-lover's dietary aid covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea. It's hard to find a better way to start off the day than with a bowl of delicious fresh muesli & even harder still to find a better way to end that day than smoked salmon and aubergine canneloni. A great bonus for any kitchen.

Fabulous 2 Jan 2002

This book is great - a weekend at Champneys showed that you can eat heartily and healthily and enjoy it The recipes in this book can be enjoyed by those not watching their weight (and they don't even know it!) It's more about health, making food taste good using herbs and spices and making it interesting. Thoroughly recommend it - just wish they'd write another one!

Disappointing menu 14 Jun 2011
Format:Hardcover
I was a bit disappointed in this book. I couldn't find any recipes for meals I have enjoyed at the resort. I was particularly hoping to learn how to make the alternatives to butter that get served before your meal but its not in the book. I think its rather outdated now (published in 1999) and Champneys either need to revise or produce take away recipe cards at their resorts! There are much better cook books out there.
