Series improving... 5 Oct 2012
By Toni Campbell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
This book continues the Drakes of California series Day started with Diamond Dreams. The Drakes are a multi-generational family that own a vineyard in Napa Valley. At his sister Diamond's engagement party, a woman catches the eye of Donovan Drake. He invites her to another winery for a drink in order to get to know her better away from his mother's inquisitive stare, and she agrees but never shows up.

Marissa Hayes' reasons for standing Donovan up are for his own good, she believes. But four months later, when her boss (Diamond's new husband) volunteers her services when Donovan's company is in a bind, she has to come to grips with her past and her attraction for her temporary boss.

In the first book in the series, the suspenseful part of the story was resolved a little quickly for me, but it was handled much better this time around. As always, learning about the winery business and the rich history of the Drake family makes this a well-rounded tale.

Never Judge A Book By It's Cover 20 Sep 2012
By Alana J. Stoner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
They say you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and this book proves that the saying is spot on. This is the first book I've read by this author. I hadn't heard of Zuri Day until I received a package from my book club. I didn't read it immediately because I hadn't heard of her. However, when I got around to reading it, I couldn't help but wonder, "when is this book going to end?" It wasn't terrible, but it certainly doesn't make me want to willingly read another book by her.

I found the relationship between Donovan and Marissa to be slightly forced. For me, there was no chemistry between these two. At one point the author is trying to get her readers to believe that Marissa has a wall up and won't let Donovan in, but in reality, there is no wall. The fear that she has doesn't feel authentic either. In the end, I didn't feel like I knew these people as a couple, they didn't match to me.

This was absolutely a wonderful love story. Had me smiling all the way through. Read in less than two days.
Very Good Read 6 April 2014

This is my second book by Zuri Day. I love her writing so far. I really can relate to the story of Donovan and Marissa. We easily let other people and things get in the way of relationship. I was really bothered by the ex friend's role in Marissa's life. I couldn't believe a person could be that devious but it does happen. Donovan was not backing down and wouldn't let anything get in the way of his feelings. When love is good and it is real, you have to fight for it.

I enjoy reading Zuri Day books but this one had very little fire. I will always read her books! Enjoy!
