1.I came across Fat White Family after reading an interview with singer Lias Saoudi who described beautifully his profound hatred for Alex Turner.I nearly fell to my knees and rejoiced.
The "invoice me for the microphone" speech was beyond WOEFUL.The quiff, attired like Richard Hawley's nephews, the arrogance and banality is simply stupefying.
Rock n roll is truly dead and the colour by number boil in the bag bands such as The Vaccines,The Artic Monkeys,Kasabian....have kicked the corpse savagely in between dates at some air hanger arena and accepting awards they think they are too good for.
I ordered the album straight away without hearing a note.
2.Fat White Family look in dire straits....permanent hangovers,bad teeth,zombie complexions,dressed in tatters.Cool.
I want my bands to being doing all the things I can't so I can live vicariously through them.
Not writing songs with Harry Styles.
3.Band members wear hats and are prone to trouser dropping.
4.Is It Raining In Your Mouth?Song of the year as well as song title of the year.
The music is a rag bag synthesis of Iggy,Fall,Country Teasers,Beta Band and The Libertines.
Throw in a few puerile lyrics a rotten wit and you have eleven songs which will be in healthy rotation.
Favourite tunes of mine are Auto Neutron,Bomb Disneyland and Who Shot Lee Oswald.
5.They're BRITISH!!!!!!!!!!!![I THINK]
6.The younger hipsters/indie kids/band freaks will take this band to their collective bosom and swoon.
Older kids[early 30s and so forth]will smirk in knowing smugness and pin point all the references though still get a little kick.
7.A year from now Fat White Family will either have imploded or be the biggest thing since the proverbial sliced bread.
8.For what it is worth I think the NME has underscored the album something they previously did with Up The Bracket.
9.If you've got the whiff.....get it.You'll like it.Probably.

FWF came to my attention through their misdeeds (Badly behaved bands are more fun), and the track Touch The Leather (Which I liked but isn't on here).

So while I've enjoyed this LP, I'm not sure the band are the finished article yet. Some of the tracks have grown on me, and furthered the impression they are a band to keep an eye on, but some tracks seem self indulgent tosh. But you could say that of many bands who developed into personal favourites.

Looking forward to catching them live, and seeing what they evolve into.

Glorious, raucous, messy and possibly a bit drunk. Lyrics are as close to genius as you will find anywhere right now. FYI: it's not kiddng when they say it's explicit. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended.

I am so pleased with this CD. It's dirty, raw, a bit messy at times, & (sorry for the cliche) a breath of fresh air.
I really hope they don't get any more polished, & keep their originality.
