4.0 out of 5 stars a bit of bubbly..., 1 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This is definitely a classic from a bygone age. Ronald Colman (as Beauregard Bottomley)stars as a loveable know-it-all who challenges a major soap manufacturing corporation (headed by Burnbridge Waters, played splendidly by Vincent Price - prior to his horror genre days) in a battle of wits for the "million dollar trivia prize". Waters, ever desperate to save his company & pride from ruin, resorts to some dirty tricks - most evident in the form of Flame O'Neill (Celeste Holm, at her best)- to sidetrack Bottomley from his never-ending quest for knowledge. In the meantime, Bottomley's long-suffering sister, Gwen (played by Barbara Britton) steps into one of Water's trap and falls in love with the emcee of the quiz. It's all a good laugh, and of course, they all live happily ever after. That is including, Caesar, of the title, a world-wise parrot with a taste for the best - champagne.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really funny, 3 Aug 2007

(REAL NAME)
Yes, Vincent Price could do comedy. He could even do Shakespeare, but here he is hilarious as Burnbridge "Dirty" Waters, creator of Milady, the Soap that Sanctifies, sponsor of the quiz Bottomley stars in (he turns up dressed as an encyclopedia and threatens to walk off with the jackpot). Waters is given to falling into an inspired trance as he spins in his swivel chair. That's when he's not doing W C Fields impressions. The others are good, too, and the plot will appeal to nerds. Earn lots of money just for knowing stuff? Don't you wish it was true!
