3.0 out of 5 stars Better setters now 19 July 2006

There are some good puzzles in here, of course, but I agree with the previous reviewer - probably not for the beginner. As a regular Indy reader I'd agree that the puzzles are much more accessible now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easier is not quite the same as better 3 July 2008
By Peter Biddlecombe TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Giving this collection one or two stars is ridiculous. They are perfectly good crosswords, just not in the same style as the current Indie puzzles, though two or three of the compilers in this collection still write Indie crosswords. If you read the product description and know who the current compilers are, the difference is not too surprising.

An up-to-date collection of Independent crosswords is long overdue.

Very difficult, much more so, than later years. The compiler seemed to think, like some compilers in the Times, that all solvers are experts, in numerous subjects. The comiler has something in common with The Guardian one.
