Product Description

Anne must stop her friend sailing on the ship that is the talk of the age… the Titanic. She knows it will sink. She knows when and she knows how.

She's knows, because she's seen the film...

A delicious tale of friendship and time travel.

Hers is a beautiful journey across 100 years, and a race to find her way back home.

The mysterious discovery of an old nightdress, entombed within the wall of a dilapidated country house in Hampshire, opens up a fascinating new world for Anne Kindersley.  Through a doorway from her bedroom, she discovers the house in a more glorious age: 100 hundred years earlier, to the day.  There, she befriends Lydia, the daughter of the house, and discovers the old ways of life, whilst introducing the beautiful and innocent Edwardian girl to the language, attitudes and confectionary of Anne's modern world.

Their unusual and secret friendship may prove short-lived however, for Lydia and her family are soon to journey to New York. They are to travel on the ship that is the talk of the age. They have their berth booked on the Titanic.

Anne realises she must stop the family from travelling. In doing so, she changes forever the destiny of the house and so too her own history, with profound and terrible consequences for her family.

"Compelling, ghostly, touching and warm..." "a sheer joy from start to finish..."

- I want to hear something, please, she asked the god of haunted houses. Please let me hear something tonight.
The house answered her simple request with the sound of many people laughing -

5.0 out of 5 stars Challerton 23 May 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. It's a light easy read with likeable characters. The book is full of atmosphere and is very descriptive. The first chapter sets a tantalising puzzle but then chapter two quickly switches to new characters that form the base of the story. It is set around a young lady Anne whose family renovate property; their latest project is a large mansion. She discovers a way to go back in time to a period when the Titanic was the main topic of news; she sees the house as it used to be. She befriends a girl of a similar age Lydia who is due to sail on the ship and the story revolves around how Anne uses her `future' knowledge to influence Lydia. Luckily for me I didn't guess the ending of the book and was quite surprised which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. I would recommend this book if you feel like reading something feel good and light hearted.Challerton

This is a great story which includes time travel, history, mystery, friendship and the Titanic. Some of my favorite topics! The author juggles all these aspects very well and weaves it into a compelling story. The story has a strong plot and the characters are very well developed. The highlight for me was trying to guess what happens at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting things happen when worlds collide 12 Sep 2013

What do you get when renovations and time travel come together? A lovely tale of friendship, love, finding yourself and where you belong and an ultimate sacrifice. When I came across this book, I thought the premise interesting and exciting, the qualities I think make a good read. Once I started reading, I could not put it down as I just had to know how all the events would come together in the ending for the story's main character. The book did not disappoint. It's a heart warming story about what can happen when we step out of the ordinary and when love and friendship get a chance to take a hold of us.

Review: Author Mark Fleming wrote a exquisite piece of work. I loved the way the story unfolded from beginning to end. Bringing a historical event like the Titanic into a piece of time traveling fiction was a brilliant idea, and one that worked out very well. The characters had depth, and you knew from soon after the beginning of the book that Anne was in a world of trouble as soon as she finds out she has to stop her friends from living out the Titanic tragedy. I'd recommend this book to any Titanic fan, Time travel fan, or contemporary fiction fan.
