I have never written an amazon review but I felt I had to when it came to this bag. It is cheaper elsewhere by the way. So, the bag is very warm (slept in it last night in -4 degrees centigrade) and also seems quite tough. I think the comfort rating being -10 isn't just marketing rubbish, and I will look forward to using this all through winter and colder months of the year. The only downsides are that:
1. It is quite large, for example it dominates by DofE hiking bag,
2. It's a little heavier than most sleeping bags (2.5kg).

However, you can buy a small, cheap, lighter sleeping bag for use in warm weather for as little as £5, and you can use that on a long hiking trip in summer, and save this bag for winter trips or cold conditions. Ovewrall an amazing quality sleeping bag, kept me warm out in the cold under a lean-to and thus did it's job well. 5 Stars.

---EDIT--
I forgot to mention. This isn't really a backpacking bag. It's too large even when compressed for that. If your looking for a cheap, portable but warm bag try the Highlander Phantom 250. However, this bag is great for cold nights under a tarp etc where your not doing long hikes or anything.

I chose this sleeping bag for my arctic survival classes and it kept me comfortable combined with a goretex bivi bag. It is durable and has a liner behind the zipper preventing heat loss by cold bridge convection. Weight is acceptable, and even there are lighter bags on the market I prefer comfort over low weight when in really cold climate. At this price range you can't really go wrong. Con's : None so far (a year after purchase)

I purchased this bag to take with me on a camping trip to north Iceland during the height of winter a while back. The coldest it got was around -20C. I was very comfortable in the -10C range, but if you are going colder than that I would recommend wrapping your feet in something warm, since on the cold nights my feet went numb. But like I said that's ok if you wrap a coat around your feet. Also I would recommend using a very good mat and even laying down a coat beneath the bag to add extra insulation from the cold ground. All in all this is a great bag, but the only draw back is the size when packed. I bought the bag even though I knew how big it was because it's a cheep alternative to down bag's.

If you can budget for it I would recommend that you get a good down sleeping bag. The con to down sleeping bags is that if they get wet, they will not be effective enough to keep you warm, however if you get a bivvi bag as well you can guarantee a dry bag plus extra insulation. The many up sides of down sleeping bags include; they are incredibly effective at insulating you when combined with a good sleeping mat, it is possible to pack them up to incredibly small sizes freeing up more space in your bag for other important things for your cold weather trip.

However, like I said, if this is the most cost effective sleeping bag for you, as it was for me, I would recommend it fully from personal experience.
