5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant conclusion 28 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
'Chalice' is the final book in 'The Glassmakers' trilogy - and it brings it all to a great conclusion. I spent some time while reading it, wondering when the author was going to get round to someone making the chalice of the title - but then at last, it all came together appropriately. Although this was largely set in America (eyes on the US market, perhaps?) there was still the original family as the backdrop. The new characters were very likable and realistic. And the story was full of surprises and real tension. My only regret was that I'd have liked to know more about the goings on back in Stourbridge, UK. But ... I was hooked!

Chalice is one of three novels set in the rural English village of Wordsley, which was then famous for its glass-making. The other novels are _Black Cameo_ and _Crystal_, and together these cover the period 1843 to 1880 in South Staffordshire. Carefully researched, if rather plainly written, the trilogy centres on a fictional successful Wordsley glass factory. Audio-book readings are available, although these may be tricky to track down now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating 3rd in Series 20 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This I enjoyed more than the 2nd in the series although I did think the finale somewhat predictable. The characters seemd less tightly drawn than in the first book but a good read nevertheless
