Product Description

In 1888, a serial killer, nicknamed Jack the Ripper, prowls London's East End. A century later, History repeats itself. Marie Kelly is haunted by horrifying dreams in which she is pursued through the gloomy alleyways of Victorian Whitechapel by a dark shadow that seeks to destroy her, as it once did her near-namesake, Mary Jane Kelly. Marie experiences Mary's terror and despair as her own. The two series of murders are linked fundamentally in a way that the police cannot prevent - even if they identify the modern killer, even if they kill him. Marie and the Ripper are 'Chained in Time'.

He took up novel writing after leaving the profession, and his first published work, 'The Planning Officers' appeared in 2011. His major works include the two epic fantasy trilogies, 'A King's Head' and 'A Queen's Heart' as well as his series of crime thrillers, the 'Rutter Books': 'Chained in Time', Rutter's Reunion' and 'Relapse'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whitechapel Terror Revisited! 22 Mar 2012
By Suzy
Format:Kindle Edition
The name of `Jack the Ripper' alone is enough to get our attention but once ensconced in this thriller `Chained in Time', we are quickly caught up in David Waine's skilfully woven tale of terror. 100 years after the Ripper's last victim, a new serial killer begins a copy-cat reign in London. The man is as elusive as his namesake and seems to know the tiniest detail of those distant massacres, which he imitates to perfection. Even with modern techniques, the police are stumbling in their efforts to prevent further disembowelling. Are they equal to the psychopathic murderer or will he run his full course?

David Waine has married two centuries masterfully. His attention to detail enforces the credibility of the story and his characters are perfectly alive, until the Ripper gets to them. A story that I will read yet again for its brilliant telling and which I can recommend without hesitation.
