HP CSA - review of the book,
By
This review is from: HP Certified Systems Administrator - 11i V3, 3rd Edition (Exam Guide for HP0-A01, Classroom Training Guide and Administrator's Reference) (Paperback)
I have been on UNIX 3rd level support for years, and I have the Solaris 8 certifications as well.
If you have passed the Solaris exams, The book doesn't have anything really "new". Most of the topics are covered in the Solaris admin 1 and admin2, so don't expect anything outstanding. The interesting parts: booting PA-RISC and itanium, volume manager (if you have been dealing with veritas volume manager and linux LVM you will be happy to quick pass this part) and all the partition set up. There are lot of exercises and references. Too bad I have not a HP-UX box or partition to play with :) The amazon delivery was quick (I bought this on UK and I live in Spain) and I have to say that thank to this quality of service I'm a happy amazon customer.

Great book,
This review is from: HP Certified Systems Administrator - 11i V3, 3rd Edition (Exam Guide for HP0-A01, Classroom Training Guide and Administrator's Reference) (Paperback)
This book proven itself to be great guide to any UNIX administrator during daily tasks. I've been able to master basic tasks on HP-UX and work effectively in this OS. Only disadvantage is lack of details about Service Guard clustering, which is commonly used on enterprise systems.

I bought this for a friend, here are the comments he asked me to post:
"The book was a very good guide to get my CSA certification, it is very complete and with the exception of a couple of typos (already discussed with the author) I am very satisfied with the money I invested on it. The appendixes were a great help as well as the very extensive list of questions the book includes at the end. Francisco Chacon" 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

good resource, but outdated. it doesn't reflect the latest exam. there's no up to date book. in order to apply to this exam, you should complement your studies.

I have just finished this book and passed the HP0-A01 CSA exam. The book covers the topics in a very practial way. There are plenty of examples and not much theory. Over 800 example exam questions helped me significantly.
