Very good Help 19 Feb 2001
By Michael J Woznicki - Published on Amazon.com
Getting the information for the newest exams for A+ is certainly paramount to any person wanting to advance in the IT industry and making sure the information will help you pass is another major concern. So when Osborne put together this package I was pleasantly surprised to find the both exams are covered with more than enough information.

The first book is the major resource for passing both exams. It is broken down into 2 sections, Core hardware and Operating Systems Technologies. The book has ever 200 questions in the book and over 200 questions on the cd-rom. The cd-rom also includes a CBT simulator for even more help.

The other book included in this package is the A+ Test Yourself, with over 200 questions broken down into the two exams. Both books also include practice tests for each exam.

Overall the two-book combination makes one of the best set of study material out there today.

I Passed And I Used This Book 1 Sep 2001
By David S. Heier - Published on Amazon.com
There are many A+ certification guides to pick from and this was one of the ones I used. Probably no one book or source alone is sufficient to satisfactorily pass the two certification exams, but this book can be one of them. The other one I used was by Mike Meyers, "All In One A+ Certification Exam Guide."

This book is strong in two important areas. First, it is concise, well organized and easy to read and to use for review. Second, the exam sim software on the CD was very good practice for the real tests. For detailed explanations and descriptions, you need to use some other source. But this is the book I used for my final review preparation just before taking the exams.

The reason I cannot give this book a top rating is because there were some very major errors that were just plain wrong in the book. You can use the Windows 98 CD to boot and install the operating system, yet this book states otherwise many times. There were also other errors that I was able to detect because I had thoroghly read Mike Meyers' book. Still, this was a very good review and practice resource.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!!! 28 Jun 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
The A+ Certification book contains a number of errors, is only about 50% complete with CompTIA requirements, and questions on the exam simulator are much much easier than on the real test.

They follow the headings of CompTIA's requirements, but do not provide sufficient information. For example, one test question compared fast paged RAM with another type of RAM. This book only mentions that fast paged RAM exists, but does not include more detail because it is not common enough.

Check the disclaimer if you want to find out how good this book is. It says "McGraw Hill does not guarantee the accuracy, adequacy, or completeness of any information and is not responsible for errors or omissions or the results obtained from use of such information." Of course, this is printed inside the book so you can't see it until you've lost your money.

What is this, a text book or a bloody NOVEL!!!!!
