Product Description

The Centre Court at Wimbledon is one of sport's most historic and iconic venues. This book celebrates its story - from the construction of the new Centre Court in 1922 to epic matches played there and the many legends who have graced its hallowed grass. Its 256 pages reflect the uniquely English atmosphere of ball boys, ball girls and blazers... plus, of course, Robinsons Barley Water and Slazenger balls.

Packed with stunning and evocative images, many taken from the All England Club's own archives, and memorabilia plucked from the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum - from Bjorn Borg's headband to Roger Federer's white jacket - this richly-illustrated book gives you a fascinating and unrivalled look behind the scenes of this magical sporting theatre. It has been updated to capture the excitement of the new retractable roof in action for the first time during the 2009 Championships when, as in every mid-summer, the focus of of the sporting world was once again on London SW19.

The first edition of this book was declared Winner of the Best Illustrated Book category at the British Sports Book Awards 2010. The new edition contains 27 beautiful new photographs and new sections on Serena Williams, the magnificent 2009 Mens' Singles final and the amazing new roof.

Format: Hardback 256 pages Date of publication: 10/06/2010 Publisher: Vision Sports Publishing Ltd

I bought this book as a present for an American friend who has been at our tennis club for the last couple of years. The pictures are fantastic and it is a very good coffee table book. It is layed out extremely well and covers everything you would want to know about Wimbledon. My friend was delighted. Highly recommended to any tennis fan.
