Product Description

Product Description

Bestselling author Frank Worrall digs deep to highlight the similarities between the clubs' fans and teams, builds a vivid picture of the tragedies and triumphs that have befallen both, and looks at the altruistic intent behind their formation. Worrall also discusses the reasons why United and Celtic became the first two British clubs to win the European Cup, how they have each had a brilliant but tragic star within their ranks (George Best and Jimmy Johnstone respectively) and analyses the work of the men who have played for and managed each club. Also given a voice in Celtic United are the fans who proudly swear allegiance to both teams. Rod Stewart, arguably their most famous fan, explains his affection for Celtic and United and describes how it came about that both teams feature in the lyrics of his song 'You're in my Heart'.

4.0 out of 5 stars You're The Best Team(s) I've Ever Seen..., 15 Nov 2007
This is a fascinating book which details the parallels between the most supported (Man U) and the best supported (Celtic) football clubs in the world. Fans of both clubs will enjoy the well researched info and reading about the remarkable similarities between the two clubs through all eras from late 19th Century to the present day.

The poignant pages about Munich and the deaths of John Thompson and Johnny Doyle brings a lump to your throat but the highs of Lisbon and Wembley ensure that there are also tears of joy. The link between clubs, history, managers, players and geniuses (Johnstone & Best) down the years are remarkable and there are various theories on why there is such a bond between the clubs. Read also about how Manchester United can lay claim to "You'll Never Walk Alone" and several other nuggets uncovered by the author.

A well written and easy-to-read addition to the vast array of publications about these two great clubs.
