Product Description

Celtic & Me - Confessions from the Jungle is the funny, original story of Dominik Diamond's very public life as a Celtic supporter. Shockingly, he started out as a Rangers fan but later realised the error of his ways and controversially changed allegiance. His outspoken views on Rangers have made him more than a little unpopular on one side of Glasgow. In Celtic & Me, find out what part he played in Martin O'Neill becoming Celtic manager. Why Seville was so awful. Why he was banned from Celtic TV. Which old firm manager is best at pub trivia machines. Which Rangers legend made Dominik weep with his kindness and which one threatened to out him on live TV for being a teenage Rangers fan. And what happened the night he was threatened outside a Glasgow kebab shop. From sickening bigotry to the joy he felt at being part of the Celtic family, Celtic & Me is the story of a man who refused to shut up and the price you pay when you do that as an Old Firm fan with a well-known face.

About the Author

Dominik Diamond's comedy career was doomed when he introduced the host of Have I Got News For You as Sean Deayton when doing warm-up for their first ever show. But he did squeeze out a colourful media career, from the Gemesmaster phenomenon to documentaries proving God's existence. He has survived a decade as a national newspaper columnist, had one of the UK's most successful radio phone-ins, punched one half of Little Britain on live TV, helped launch the Fratellis, sang onstage with Glasvegas and still found time to support Celtic.

An excellent insight into the life of a Celtic supporter and how, through his passion for this club,he was able to delve into the very darkest corners of himself. You can really feel the swell and atmosphere of "the jungle"and for me that was an emotion that I wanted to relive(as a child I frequented ParkHead on numerous occasions) and through this book I was certainly able to do it.Entertaining, witty and uncomfortably honest at times;just the kind of read that I like.

A "diamond" read 25 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
I read this in one go, and despite the Old Firm meaning sweat FA to me (being a mancunian) I still couldn't stop reading it. Funny, interesting, educational and sprinkled with a hint of voodoo, and it even has pictures in the middle so if you're trying to read it while steaming you can just look at the pics instead so your eyes don't go fuzzy and hurt. The second best book to come from Scotland after Trainspotting.

Having just finished reading a book about Henrik Larsson that was mediocre at best and rarely strayed from bland statistics it was an utter delight to find this book.

This is not just a book about football. It is about one man's journey through life with football as a backdrop.

I suppose many people will know Mr. Diamond from his appearances in the media. However, in this book we get to see the real Dominik...a man plagued by his own personal demons and a man who genuinely cares about the people in his life, family and friends.

Reading this you get to know what a warm, funny and intelligent guy he is and you end up feeling like you know him just like one of your mates.

Oh and the football bit? It's not a blow by blow account of one match after another but about what it's really like to be a fan...passion, joy, despair and comradeship.

Every Celtic supporter should read this. In it they will see a true reflection of why they feel that we are one big family.

Every other football supporter should read it simply because it is a riot!

Rangers fans should read it to see why they are, most definitely, not THE people.

Non-footballing fans should read it as it is, probably, the most honest autobiography this decade!
