Product Description

Product Description

Acclaimed designer and author, David James takes his inspiration from a whole host of traditional artifacts. Capture the intricacy that distinguishes Celtic style, with these glorious and ancient art designs. Close-up enlargements of sections of the art will make these areas more visible, versatile, and easily copied. Patterns range from a circle containing linked knotwork alternating with solid color to an elaborate "birds of friendship" figure centered about a cross. There's a virtual art gallery of projects to make. They'll work for whatever medium and technique you use -- painting, dyes, leather, fabric-printing, enameling, wood, slate -- even pyrography! Pierce the line drawing with a craft knife to make a stencil, or transfer a design onto wood with carbon paper. Experiment with color schemes to achieve the best effect for your project. These lovely and engrossing patterns will make you glad you've joined the many who have discovered Celtic imagery!

This book by David James can be used as a source of beautiful designs which can be adapted to many media - I have used them myself to make computer art and know of someone using his designs for quilting. There is no limit to their usefulness for those enthralled by the beauty and complexity of Celtic design.
