Book Description

From Aideen to Vivien, and Ainsley to Wallace, this is the definitive A-Z listing of Celtic names

Product Description

There is currently a huge resurgence of interest in genealogy and in searching out one's roots. People are keen to delve back to early civilisations from which family ancestors came, hence the fascination with all things Celtic. Drawn from legend, place names, mythology and history, Celtic names reflect the magic and charm of the isles they come from: Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, and even Spain and Italy.

This unique, enchanting guide draws on Celtic history and culture to provide expectant parents with over 2,500 beautiful, one-of-a-kind Celtic names. Divided by sex with Gaelic spellings and name variations, as well as the origins and meanings of names, The Celtic Baby Names Book is a fun, comprehensive guide to Celtic names.

Name book 24 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
Bought this book as a present for a friend as she wanted some inspiration for Scottish baby names. Unfortunately the book seemed to have a strong leaning towards Welsh names, but they're were also Scottish, Breton and Irish names in there too. And there were certainly plenty that you wouldn't come up with yourself! Not an exhaustive list but a reasonable selection. Maybe wouldn't have bought it if I'd actually been able to flick through it in a shop.

Some very interesting facts BUT it needs that bit in normal dictionaries where you learn how the words are pronounced. That being said I found five great girls names... and then gave birth to a boy. Oh well... maybe next time!

This book has a lot of names, but no pronunciations to help you along. I would not order it again.
