Having read the reviews on this product convinced me to buy and I must say at first I was not disappointed. Within minutes of taking it out of the box it and connecting it up it was working without having to read the instructions first. The aerial was just fixed loosely and the reception was faultless. However the glass mount aerial is very flimsy and after one use I lost reception altogether to find that the aerial had fractured where it entered the body that sticks to the glass. Am considering a different aerial but it adds to the cost then but at this moment in time it does not work.

I live near Geneva and recently our English speaking radio station was forced off the FM band onto DAB+. So there was suddenly a very large number of car owners looking for DAB+ conversion kits. You can check out the recommendations on worldradio.ch . I have installed a DabMotion device in my car, I live quite a way out from Geneva (30Km), and this device works brilliantly. I was afraid at first that re-transmission over FM would be a problem in Geneva where the FM band is very crowded with stations very close together. I am very happy to say that this is not a problem, the DabMotion has a very powerful FM transmitter with automatic frequency shifting and there is no issue on this score, it works perfectly. Not only that, but the quality is much better than when receiving FM stations in the usual way, I now listen to classical music in the car and the sound quality is much better - DAB+ is a great standard. The DabMotion has a powered antenna and is able to display signal strength on your FM radio display, even 30Km away from Geneva the signal strength is 90% ! The device comes with a small wireless remote control unit that is easy and intuitive to use. I stuck it on my dashboard with the Velcro sticky pad provided. The other big plus with the DabMotion is the way it uses your car radio display to display not only the station and transmitted texts but also it uses the radio display to show status and DabMotion control commands when setting up. For example it displays signal strength this way on command. All in all a brilliant and well designed device.

The integrated radio in my car has always had terrible reception and could only reliably get Radio 2. I was looking for something to boost the signal or allow DAB reception, but wanted to avoid having lots of wires and plastic bits stuck inside the car and on the windscreen.

This DABMotion is, quite literally, BRILLIANT!

It’s a small box (about the size of two cigarette packets) with an aerial input (aerial supplied), a cigarette lighter power lead and a small wireless controller. You’re supposed to stick the aerial to the windscreen, but I just chucked the whole lot in the boot, plugged in, tuned the car radio to the FM frequency stated in the manual, and it just works. I now have crystal clear digital radio reception with no wires, just a small, well-made wireless controller to change station and access the menu for the box sat in the boot.

It works by re-transmitting the digital DAB signal on an FM frequency that you tune your radio to. The RDS display on your existing radio then shows the station, song title and other radio text (if you want, or you can turn it off), just the same as a DAB radio.

A truly marvellous bit of kit that I can’t recommend enough – and it’s British!

I have been looking for a cost effective DAB solution for my Mercedes after being frustrated with poor FM radio reception in my area. I looked at several options and finally settled on the DAB motion, mainly due to what I thought would be an easy fit for my car.

I was sceptical of the FM transmitter as I have made use of similar FM transmitters in the past on my ipod but can say there is nothing to worry about.

This product is great! Within 15 minutes of it arriving it was plugged in and working in my car! I drive an estate and decided to mount it in my boot as I have a spare 12 volt socket there an hid the actual device in a storage compartment. The stick on DAB antenna works very well. I now have my four favourite DAB stations saved and have had no problems whatsoever!

I highly recommend this product, you will not be disappointed!

Bought this as I didn't want to change the head unit. Easily fitted behind the dashboard, took the power from the stereo. Aerial was easy to fit, reasonably unobtrusive on the windscreen, wire run nicely inside the door pillar. Plenty of cable for a front mount, possibly need an extension for a rear mount.
Functionality.....read the instructions! Its not a unit you can just press buttons until it works, there are lots of menus and options!
The supplied aerial works ok.. a dedicated roof mount would work better. I have no problems with it up and down the M5 corridor but it does drop out sometimes in the country.
Finding a suitable FM channel to use as the receiver is a bit tricky as its suitability varies from region to region and it not really a quick job to retune.
Display on the original head unit shows exactly what you are listening to, just as it would on an aftermarket DAB head unit.
The aux input works well with my Ipod, but you do need to crank the volume up to hear it at the same volume as the radio.
Summary
Does all it says it will, possibly invest in a proper aerial. The menus take a bit of getting used to and there is a delay to get use to when using the menus. Sound quality not as good as dab as you are listening to it on fm. But it does sound clearer than a regular FM broadcast.
