If you have absolute no exposure to the CDMA technology, then you could use this to get a rough idea. But this is an extremely difficult book to learn from. The biggest problem: a lot of material is taken directly out of the industry specs, IS-95 (sometimes word by word; I am surprised that the publisher would let this book be published this way). Since the specs are meant to be the guideline only, the reader would not know the reasonings, and therefore the pros and cons of the specs and their alternatives. I believe that there are a lot of much better materials on the internet out there (and books) that would give you a better idea on the subject, especially considering the cost of this book.
