I was looking for a spotting scope to do some digiscoping with my DSLR for birding and other wildlife. I actually tried a Celestron Regal 100 ED which is at the other end of the price spectrum but the bulk of this prohibited usage although the optics were superb. I had pretty low expectation when I tried the 65 since it has a ver small aperture and it isn't the ED glass version. However, much to my surprise the images on the DSLR were absolutely brilliant and I am hard pushed to tell much difference between this and the Regal.
DSLRs on this scope are used by digiscoping (rather than prime focus), that is you shoot through the scope lens by attaching the camera body via a T-Thread on the scope. The only thing that I would say is that at the lowest magnification, there is a bit of vignetting and at the highest magnification, the image loses a bit of its sharpness. In the mid-ranges though it is absolutely superb.
The quality of construction is also very very good. Because this is the smaller model it is also very portable and fits on my Vista Voyager tripod with the DSLR attached with no troubles at all.
For the money, you won't get a better quality scope and a god send for digiscopers.
