Product Description

Celestron’s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. Each SkyMaster model features high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. Celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions.

For maximum stability and secure optical alignment, the 80mm and 100mm SkyMaster models feature enhanced structural reinforcement to the main binocular body. As an additional convenience, the 80mm and 100mm SkyMaster models also include an integral super rigid photo tripod adapter. The SkyMaster Series binoculars are built to provide years of magnificent views of the world around you and the heavens above.

The 8x56 and 9x63 models are waterproof and feature a shock-resistant rubber covering, and twist-up eyecups. They also provide superb image quality with BAK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics. Their excellent depth of field gives a good overview without the need for constant refocusing. The high power zoom models (20-100x70 and 25-125x80) make it easier to see details at extreme powers when conditions allow.

Features:
  • 25x magnification porro prism binocular
  • Large 70 mm objective lens offers maximum image brightness in low-light and long-range conditions
  • Ultra sharp focus across the field of view
  • Multi-Coated optics for sharp, clear views
  • Suitable for terrestrial or astronomical viewing
  • Protective rubber covering for ultra-firm grip
  • Large center focus knob for easy focusing
  • Tripod adapter included
  • Long eye relief ideal for eyeglass wearers
  • Carrying case

I've been an amateur astronomer for a while now and have a couple of telescopes both of which are pretty bulky. I also had a pair of 10x50 bins which are highly portable of course but with only 10 magnification and not a lot of light gathering ability, they were never going to show much detail. I bought these as a grab and go for when you just want to have a quick look at Jupiter and its moons or a scan of the lunar surface. At the price, I was only expecting something that was a bit better than my 10x50s but wow, the viewing through these is terrific and I hadn't quite appreciated just how much better they would be. The moon is a joy to view through these, they are very easy to focus and have an excellent quality feel to them. The tripod mount adapter is pretty wobbly to be honest but that's not the real purpose of these. If you're in the mood to set up tripods then get an astroscope but these are small and light enough to hold without any problems.

I really am very very pleased. Another brilliant low cost item from Celestron.

Celestron Binos 9 Oct 2011
This is a fantastic pair of binos. They are great for bird watching and for stargazing and you can see the moon in great detail as well as the moons of Jupiter. The 20x80 would be just too heavy for bird watching - but these are ideal with an aperture of 70 mm and a magnification of 25 - great!

Had a right mess receiving these for christmas as they were lost in transit. Upon contacting customer service, I was offered an upgrade of delivery service from the normal standard to business and received them the next day. Fortunately, I already had a tripod and mounting them on was easy. The adaptor is not the best as has been described by others. Patience and stillness is needed to view the moons of jupiter in their entire clarity. These were my first, so have nothing to compare to. So far so good.

These are excellent binoculars for both celestial & terrestrial use. The use of tripod is advisable for extended use as the binoculars are quite heavy.
