Format:Audio CD
The Soundcarriers' lovely debut, Harmonium was my favourite album of 2009, a pretty decent year for new sounds. Celeste carries on the good work - and how.
This is serious music. If you're new to them I could suggest Broadcast, Air or Stereolab, but I tell you what they remind me of - Those two wonderful tracks on Roy Budd's Get Carter soundtrack; `Getting Nowhere in a Hurry' and the sublime `Hallucinations'. The same warm analogue sounds, the same celestial male-female choir. Beautiful.
BBC Freak Zone's Professor Justin Spear suggests such jazz-tinged space-rock could come from Saturn. Whilst that is almost plausible, the reality is, they're quite possibly the finest Nottingham-based quartet since Hood, Tuck, John & Scarlet.
This is serious music. The Soundcarriers carry on where they began with Harmonium, fashioning a musical genre all of their own that is part jazz, part indie, part retro and all brilliant!
Check out the (deservedly gushing) reviews of Harmonium for a more detailed description of their sound and influences. Celeste is fairly similar in style but even better. I was eagerly anticipating this album and wasn't at all disappointed.

This is the best music I have heard in years and as a result therefore, feel compelled to write my first review.
I'm of an age where I'd almost given up on most contemporary music. However, having heard no more than 5 seconds worth on TV (I think), I decided to 'take a punt' and purchase both Celeste & first CD Harmonium.
- I haven't been disappointed.
Rather than trying to describe their style and songs, I recommend you searching for the band on Youtube. You'll find various tracks (as I did) and wont be disappointed.
I appreciate many forms of music - from classical to Scottish & Irish traditional music (I play violin), to rock & pop.
In fact anything that is tuneful really. - The music produced by the SoundCarriers is lovely, intelligent flowing and very tuneful music.
These guys deserve to be very successful so go and treat yourself - buy the CDs and support the band.
