Annie Valentine has her own television show telling people how to make the best of themselves and their wardrobes on a shoestring. It is into its second series and the powers that be are thinking of bringing in a celebrity in place of Annie. Somehow Annie needs to pull out all the stops so that no one will consider replacing her.
Flamboyant Svetlana - much married wealthy woman and Annie's dearest friend - and her daughter Elena are setting up a new venture called Perfect Dress and their first show is in Paris so Annie decides to feature them on her show. As well as trying to stay on top in TV Annie has twins - Minnie and Mickey - left at home with boyfriend Ed, older children Owen and Lana and a mother in the early stages of dementia. Then there are the builders knocking holes in Annie and Ed's house and Annie has more than enough on her plate.
This book can be read as a standalone novel but you will get even more enjoyment out of it if you have read its predecessors. There are hilarious moments, the clothes are always interesting and there are some poignant moments as Annie comes to terms with her past and possibly her future.
As ever the supporting characters are interesting in their own right and the story is fast paced and a satisfying read. It is an ideal book for these colder autumn evenings. I particularly like the chapter headings describing the clothes one of the characters featured in the chapter is wearing - they are a unique touch which separates this enjoyable series from the majority of light fiction.
Carmen Reid's many fans will love the latest in the Annie Valentine series and Annie remains an inspiring character who somehow - with the help of her friends - manages to cope with everything that life and love throw at her.

Another wonderful book from Carmen Reid to make you laugh, cry, shout and think about all life has on offer.
Annie Valentine is a great character and I have loved all the books in the series but this one is very special indeed.
As Annie herself would say: "buy this babes, it's an investment piece".

I received my copy on Friday and here it is Sunday morning and I've finished it!
Annie 'babes' Valentine is as much fun as ever even though we don't really get to see her very much in personal shopper mode at all. I must confess I did like those touches in the previous books because I always felt as if I learned something about clothes and style! But I suppose it wouldn't be very interesting to have Annie permanently giving us dressing tips, would it?
But even though she has left The Store far behind and even her ebay trading (I missed that too!) the story is still full of fun and games with Svletlana and Elena her daughter when Annie gets involved in their business venture concerning 'The Perfect Dress'. Near-disaster in Paris shows us that Annie hasn't lost her initiative for making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Now Annie has baby twins, Minnie & Mickie and her lovely partner Ed has taken extended paternity leave to look after them at home so that Annie can do her TV programme. I love Ed! Why aren't there more men like him?!
The story is fun and a real page-turner. Annie and Svletlana go on a sponsored charity hill walk in Scotland, wearing killer heels. It may not go totally according to plan nor be quite as easy as they thought it would be but the outcome is in true Annie Valentine fashion!
I love Annie Valentine and I do hope this isn't the last in the series. Actually, Svletlana turned out to be quite a surprisingly tough bird and I'm convinced she's strong enough for her own series!

I personally couldnt get in to this book , i have read the previous ones , but this one seems to struggle , and i just didnt enjoy it. Not for me , although others seem to like it.
