Product Description

Product Description

A veritable Who's who of political writers and performers; Frankie Armstrong, Roy Bailey, Robb Johnson, Reem Kelani, Sandra Kerr, Grace Petrie, Leon Rosselson, Janet Russell, Ian Saville, Peggy Seeger, Jim Woodland Hard hitting songs for hard hit times from some of the country's most committed and eloquent singers and songwriters. Ten singers, musicians and songwriters plus one magician (who contributes a visionary poem) pool their talents under the title of The Anti-Capitalist Roadshow to join the resistance against the government's ideologically-driven austerity programme. Their songs range widely from the angry to the humorous to the satirical to the upbeat. There are story songs, protest songs, solidarity songs. They take in also the Arab Spring, with a song from Tunisia, and the American Occupation Movement. Eleven different voices with one aim - to challenge the narrative that says that there is no alternative to the status quo.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Album for our times 26 Sep 2013
By Reg
Format:Audio CD
A superb collection of songs poignantly identifying all that is wrong in Britain today. A social commentary that will be remembered long after this present coalition government has been and gone. The Roadshow itself is an evening that will evoke emotion, outrage and some despair and this album is a poor substitute for that experience. It is still well worth listening to though but the words of the songs HAVE to be heard. From each according to their each according to their need....a maxim sadly missing in this country.Celebrating Subversion

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Brilliant 22 Dec 2012
Format:Audio CD
There are 30 tracks on these two discs, and every one of them is a little gem in its own right. Buy them NOW! And if there's an anti-cap roadshow gig playing anywhere within 50 miles of you go see it. It's brilliant.
