Product Description

Product Description

Now in paperback, this is a framework for daily prayer which offers the opportunity to celebrate the Office in a variety of ways appropriate to different communities and contexts.

Developed by the Franciscans for their daily prayers in the morning, at midday, in the evening and at night, the prayers vary through the church's year and through each day of the week. Each day is also matched with a season, for example, Sunday with Easter and Friday with Lent.

As a former frair in the catholic church, I have been exploring a number of books for use now that I am "in another place" (no, not deceased, just a Baptist). CCP is truly a godsend for any individual or group that wishes to engage in regular prayer. I find it easy to use, and excellent in terms of its resources. I can highly recommend it, especially for those traditions within the Christian Church that have not normally used a "Divine Office" Text. Thanks to all at SSF!

Celebrating Common Prayer is onbe of the most important books to have come out in recent Anglican Liurgical revision. It is a through revistiing of the divine office with strong historical background and good liurgical sense. The only drawback of the provision is that it could prove too daunting in its complexity of use for some users.

When this book is used as intended, praying each Divine Office with pure intention and framed with meditative and prayerful use, it is a source of holiness. It brings before the user, some sense of the awe and wonder of the Blessed Trinity. It opens the heart and mind to care for others. Of course this daily prayer of the Church surrounds and upholds the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist and the Office together make up the prayer of the Church and therefore of its members.
