Book Description

Self-help/ self-improvement books frequently tout as one the most important bits of advice that you are given - value and cherish your family and friends; spend quality time with the ones you love and who love you. It is said to be the foundation of a happy productive life. In this hectic life how does one find the time to get together, to make memories with those who matter; to create a firm foundation of love shared with family and friends?
Celebrate today: Cooking Up Memories with History is a collection of excuses, or if you prefer, reasons to get together and make memories. History provides the backdrop to build new memories. Each day of the year offers many opportunities to celebrate, one simply has to have the motivation in which to search them out. Here I have given each one of us a reason to celebrate, an excuse to invite friends and family to come on over and have some fun.

Not only does this book give reasons to get together, it will give an idea of how to celebrate. Planning of foods to serve with an entire menu and notions of how to enhance the ambiance to make the event truly memorable. For example, On May 6, 1954 Roger Bannister broke the four minute mile mark. An old (albeit clean) tennis shoe filled with fresh flowers would make an interesting centerpiece; interesting enough to make it memorable.

In Beans and Greens Koko says that, "Food is an intricate part of our connections to the past, no matter where we are from." I believe food is the knotty part of our connections to the past; that part which our memories are woven to form the tapestry that is our lives.

Have fun, make memories, and remember: be brave, be creative, be kind and loving.
