Bought one of these for my neighbour who ranted about the bathroom light switch going on and off all night as the family use the bathrooms.
This thing is almost silent.
It has a neutral connection but the instructions state that it is there for convenience and isn't necessary if your circuit doesn't need one.
Fitted as a direct replacement for a standard light-pull operating 3 LV spots - works just fine and dimmable too for those who like to relax in the bath.To dim, pull and hold. Returns to full brightness next time you turn it on. For on-off, pull once, just like a normal switch.
Don't think it will work with CFL (energy-saving) bulbs.

Bought this as it had a dimmer function which works perfectly. Only downside is you loose about 20% of the full intensity compared to a standard switch, and when dimed there is a very noisy "humming" sound where the unit is dimming the power.
I dont have a neutral connection, but the unit works perfectly.

This item operated for 1 week from installation then when pulled lights flickered. Not amused, rubbish do not buy.
I am an electrician, pull cord was controlling 4 No 50w GU10 lamps so not overloaded.
Contacted Amazon who promptly refunded cost to me, first class service from Amazon. Now I have to
Remove and reinstall standard pull cord.
Again do not buy,,,,,,

Nigh-on silent operation: yes. Easy to fit: yes. Easy to use: yes. Decent pull cord material instead of that annoying stretchy stuff: yes. Plastic cover for the terminals: yes. Bad points: none for me.

I'm using it with a tungsten-halogen 80W-substitute bulb, so the reduced brightness is no issue as a "normal" 60W bulb was bright enough for my bathroom.

Item was faulty, but this was only obvious after I fitted it, requiring extra work to remove it and re-instal a standard switch. It seems to work OK at first but after a few minutes the lights begin to flicker and some minutes later it becomes impossible to turn them off. They just keep flickering until I isolate them with the bathroom trip switch. I tried to order to a replacement but the only option was a refund for some reason.

Purchased this for the bathroom as the normal light switches on the market make so much noise that they wake everyone in the house.
This product is a dream! It is silent easy to install and has the added effect of dimming the lights if you wish.
Do not use the new LED bulbs which have a lower wattage as it will cause them to flicker!
I used 3 Osram G10 50w Bulbs which suited my small bathroom perfectly.
I would recommend ordering from this supplier whose product seems to be well made and has the most helpful reviews!

Further to this review I have now discovered that you can in fact use the new LED bulbs provided they are marked "Dimmable" on the package.
I bought a 4 pack of these under the brand name "Diall" from B&Q for £22 less 10% OAP discount.
They are far brighter than the old Osram G10s.
Hope that helps!

These are well made and they work very well. No clunk when you turn it on - you hardly hear anything - so you don't wake the whole household when you go to the loo at night.

Just be aware that the dimmer circuitry does reduce the power output - so a bulb will appear slightly dimmer.

Because it is a dimmer, it should not be used in a toilet or bathroom with a fan connected to the light - unless the fan has it's own permanent live feed (not coming from this dimmer). Fans with a separate permanent live are those that let the fan continue when the light is switch off.
If the fan is powered directly from the light switch, the power is already reduced by the dimmer circuitry in the fan (so the fan will run slower). As you dim the light more the fan will run slower and then stop.

So, a very good and very quiet switch - I recommend it. But I suggest you do not use it in a toilet or bathroom with a fan - unless the fan has a permanent live.

I am no expert - so If you are unsure about any of this, ask a qualified electrician.

I hope this was useful.
