4.0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Smiling, 2 Aug 2006
By J. M. Phillips (Abingdon, OXON United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

As the DVD is yet to be released I can only comment on the film itself. For those who enjoyed 'weeping camel' this is a must. The beautiful landscape along with the slow-paced but heart-warming story create a enviroment which pulls the viewer in. The most endearing feature, though, has to be the wonderful performances that the crew managed to get out of the three children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Film., 1 April 2007

it seems to be very rare when a truly beautiful, sweet and simply-told movie comes along to delight the viewer. This is one such film. There is a real earthy, honest feel to this that I have never seen in a Hollywood production. Essentially, this is a docu-drama, which manages to extract incredible performances out of the very young children. Even the parents are superb. This is a MUST-SEE movie! It will aim right for your heart. If you haven't already, you will feel a deep yearning for the simeple ways of life again...and being part of a family. Superb. One of the finest films in the last 50 years!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely movie!, 26 Feb 2007
By Tarot Scribe (Scotland) - See all my reviews
The story itself isn't complex - little girl of nomadic herdsmen finds a dog and wants to keep it. Her father wants her to leave it behind....

You will be absolutely knocked out by the little girl's performance - in fact, her whole family act in this film. The landscape is stunning and the film provides a fascinating glimpse into a way of life in jeopardy.

If you are looking for a nice family film this would suit confident readers (subtitled). My son is six and I just paraphrased the conversations for him cos he couldn't keep up with the subtitles.

Beautiful little film - enjoy it ;-)
