5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 17 Jan 2009
By Ruth A. Downing "amythestblue" (England) - See all my reviews

To be honest, this isn't the kind of music I normally listen to, but as a fan of Gareth David Lloyd I decided to buy it without hearing any of the tracks first. It's turned out to be one of the best albums I've bought in years. The guitar playing is brilliant, and Gareth's voice sends shivers down your spine one moment and is like a pick-axe through the brain the next (and, yes I do mean that in a good way!) The whole album was clearly created with such enthusiasm and sheer enjoyment of the music, that if you can listen to it without feeling the pure joy of being alive, then you should give it to someone who would appreciate it and go buy yourself McFly's latest offering! It's all you deserve!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!, 22 Jan 2009
This is a great effort brought forth by the band. They pull no punches and give their all. While most complain of the quality I find nothing to complain about as this is the band in a very raw and natural state it is very clear that with a much larger audience to fully appreciate what they bring. Instead of the traditional studio album they give us a jaw clenching nerve jangling spine tingling sound that keeps us craving more.

Gareth's sometimes seducing often electrifying vocals may sometimes drift off into the unclear zone (much like a lot of other singers tend to do some even do it intentionally) are for the most part fully understandable lending a voice to frustrations that you otherwise wouldn't confess in your daily day to day life.

To put the band down and share your dibelief that they won't make it as anything other than a live act is a great injustice because to say that of this band is to say that of plenty of other bands that have come before them. To over analyze something so simple and pure such as this is to like over analyzing some already well explained content that has been placed before you.

I purchased my EP from their myspace page and after sharing it with some friend that I had to wrestle with to get it back from (yes you know who you are) I purchased a few more copies for my friends so they wouldn't borrow my personal copy. I will be overjoyed when the band makes it's way over here to the US where I am sure that after a good amout of exposure they will gain a strong following here as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars First EP from a band to watch but not commercially friendly., 15 Jul 2009

I should make it clear that as a Gareth David Lloyd fan I guess this makes me a bit biased. I am also not a music expert so can not comment on the technical aspects. However I know what I like and I love this.

Having brought this from the bands MySpace I will admit at first I was not sure about this. It is not the type of music I would normally listen to. This EP IS not something you would find on commercial radio or on MTV. It is different from all the over commercialised dross and that is one of the advantages. It is Raw and the band play with enthusiasm. Gareth's lyrics can sometimes be unclear but again that is part of the appeal. It is the type of music you can put on if you're having a bad day and growl/scream along with. The instruments also go from soft to loud to 'just noise' as a relative phrased it, that should not work but does. Its music that needs to be played loud to be fully appreciated. Rock fans will love this. Fans of studio polished albums may be disappointed as sometimes things are unclear. That does not detract from the tracks in my opinion, it adds to the effect and lyrics are published on the bands MySpace.

The lyrics do contain profanity, lots of it. This band is not a family friendly one so unless you have a seriously cool Granny its best avoided playing this at family gatherings.

Over all an interesting debut. Not too pretentious, just four lads having fun and getting their anger out through music. This EP has grown on me with time and being played too many times to recall.

It is not going to be to everyone's taste but I like it. If you're not sure I would say the best track to try out is Bam Bam. It is the least offensive but does give a good indication of what you can expect.

Can not wait for the realise of Cave country part two now.

I purchased this as a physical EP from the band's MySpace page and after listening from start to finish several times, my feelings are still mixed. Read more
