5.0 out of 5 stars In depth study of neglected topic 13 Dec 2012

I have read a few of the author's works and enjoyed them all, this one is one of his best. Many books have made in-depth studies of the New Model Army, but there have been very few good works about the raising, maintenance, and performance of the King's forces, this book fills that gap. It is not for the casual reader, but if you have an interest in the English Civil War, I would characterize this as a must read.
