Book Description

26 Sep 2010
In a Slovakian mountain retreat a band of scientists known as Unity Six have developed a new wonder-cure; a natural phenomenon that doesn't involve chemicals. The ultimate panacea. When they are suddenly murdered by agents of a dominating pharmaceutical conglomerate owned my ninety two year old Paul Ross, their important work is lost forever. But one of them survived. Law tutor James Loxbridge is living a lonely existence in picturesque middle England after walking out on his Czech wife Radka Rosická. When Radka is kidnapped by billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Casino Collins, Loxbridge is drawn into a mystery that harks back to the 1800s and a remarkable scientific discovery. On the trail of Radka's oppressors, James finds himself in Paris, chaperoning the beautiful scientist Tiffanny Tourneux. If he helps her, she promises to help free Radka. But what information is Tiffanny holding back from James? And has he bitten off more than he can chew? In a race against time, James must protect Tiffanny and her organisation's secret, until the time is right to reveal it to the world. Only then will he be reunited with his wife. But there are some who want to bury the secret forever. And for that they will stop at nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 31 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback
This book was recommended to me by my sister who is an avid reader of crime thrillers, whereas I'm not. Once I started to read the book, I couldn't put it down, it only took me 5 days to read it. The story just pulls you in. I would reiterate the other reviewers' comments. I haven't visited the places mentioned in the book, but because of the way the author has described them, I could picture the scenes in my head. It is a brilliant story. I haven't read Michael Hollin's first novel, The Aequitol Schedule, but am looking forward to him writing his third one and if Cause for Concern is anything to go by I'm sure that will be another page turner. Well done Mr Hollin.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT 17 July 2011
Format:Paperback
A CAUSE for CONCERN keeps you turning the page to solve the clues with the main characters. I have also visited some of the many places written about in this book and the attention to detail is second to none.
micheal hollins's first book AQUITOL was a great page turner, this is fast paced and thrilling and I was very sad when I came to the end of it! (in only two days!!!) I hope he is already writing his third novel, keep them coming, I love your writing Michael.
The twist at the end was brilliant

I have been a fan of Michael Hollin's writing from the start, so was excited when my copy of 'A Cause for Concern' landed by airmail! I read the whole thing in 4 days. 'Page-turner' is a much over-used cliche, but this book is very much just that.

This book is certainly a good development from 'Aequitol Schedule' (the author's first novel.) It contains the same attention to detail, intelligent and gripping storyline development and a real sense of empathy with the main character, Mr Loxbridge!

I especially enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the places in the story. I have visited many of them and felt like I was back in the middle of each town and city. I felt the same sense of being in the middle of the places which I've never been to and I'm keen to see the locations for myself based on Michael's fantastic descriptions.

I hope to hear more about the life and times of James Loxbridge and the other characters in this story and await another genuine page-turner very soon. Truly, a 5-star novel.
