Product Description

Starring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, with Reece Shearsmith, Matt Lucas, Morwenna Banks, Tim Healy, Mark Benton and Charlie Higson; A journey of mix-ups, mayhem and missing organs.

Chris and Carl Palmer are two brothers who have not seen each other for 15 years. Carl has just left the army, while Chris has woolly hair and a full English beard. This is the story of the first three hours following their reunion, as Carl tries to find his long-lost son.

As they hole up at The Mermade Hotel, their simple task becomes complicated thanks to a psychotic killer, a gung-ho American cop who has fulfilled his ambition to work for the NYPD (North Yorkshire Police Department) and an angry hotel manager bereft of a vital piece of anatomy. In what should have been a relatively straightforward seven-mile journey to a garden center, Chris and Carl drop in at a jazz fusion disco, visit a farm shop, discover a new disease and narrowly avoid being killed in a varied selection of gruesome ways.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny in a wierd way 18 Jan 2007
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The first genuinely funny, non-sketch based Reeves and Mortimer series. Catterick focusses it's attention on Carl Palmer and his brother Chris, as they look for Carl's long lost son. If you saw Bang Bang It's Reeves & Mortimer [DVD] you will recognise them as the bouncers from Paul Baron's nightclub, although I don't think it is meant to be related to it chronologically in any way.

Also present is an appearance from a character loosely based on "Kinky John Fowler" (another employee of Paul Baron), but this character is not quite as disturbing.

There are also some great characters played by Matt Lucas; the owner of The Mermade Hotel (it's not my typo), who has an accent I cannot place anywhere. He also plays Dan the Shellfish Man.

There are also appearances from Morwenna Banks, Tim Healy, Reece Shearsmith, Charlie Higson and Mark Benson. Catterick seems to have some of the best alternative comedy actors.

Very funny in the surreal way that only Vic and Bob can pull off. The only thing that makes me take away a star is the fact that it is only very loosely based on the characters from The Club. If you have not seen "Bang Bang" then D.I. Keith Fowler will mean nothing to you and is a bit of a weak character.

I would still be happy to sit through the whole series again because I think anything Reeves and Mortimer do gets funnier with repetition. It's got the feel of classic Vic and Bob combined with The League of Gentlemen, and it's good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars The smell of Catterick 12 Aug 2006
By The Boy
Format:DVD
The genius of Reeves & Mortimer shine through once again. After the disappointing Randall & Hopkirk i was a bit wary of this but after a few short minutes i realised they were back to their best. The story of two brothers reunited after fifteen years and the quest to find a long lost son may sound like the work of a heavy drama but you couldnt be further from the truth. This is the duo at their surrealist and funniest, and with appearences from Reece Shearsmith as a psychotic madman, Matt Lucas as a crazy hotel owner and his long suffering girlfriend played by Morwenna Banks this really does hit the mark every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vic and Bob at their best
We were familiar with the series as we watch it on TV but great to see again. Only this duo could produce a crime musical.
