A refreshing and logical layout of Cat breeds separates this book from the usual bookstore selectons.
A 30 page introduction details various topics, such as cat history, breed and colour development etc.
This is followed by an eight page Identification Key section which is easy to use and logically layed out and helps you through the book.
The remaining two hundred pages are then devoted to Cat breeds, with long haired cats in the first half and short haired in the second. Each of these section ends with non pedigree Cats.
The photographs are truly delightful but most impressive is the text. Well written and easy to understand without ever becoming too simple and child like. Good use of facts and detail, combined with Aldertons satisfying style, make this an addictive and rewarding read.
The pages are layed out in the most simple way, with details of individual cats located in the same part of each page, so you never have to hunt for information, it is clearly placed in front of you.
DK have done well with this Cat Handbook, especially in choosing the size of the book, which is of a standard size and can be carried easily. An absence of wasted white space and child like illustrations make this an effecient read.
Thoroughly recommended.

this book is very detailed and interesting. however, if you are more interested in the images they are far too small.

If you are thinking of getting a feline friend then this is the book for you, it has great details and excellent pictures to let you make your choice of cat. 5 star.
