Format:Spiral-bound
A well produced flip over card book, complete with its own loop of colourful knot free string. The explanations are easy to understand, no steps have been assumed. The illustrations are clear and thoughtfully drawn, supporting the text admirably. A helpful aspect in the design is that the piece of string that is to be moved next, is coloured red on the illustration. Being an American book , it has lost none of its meaning in a translation.
The book has two sections. One for individual use where there are 4 figures to make and a second section for two people showing how to create the 5 repeating shapes. It is a good introductory book. Competent Cat's Cradle enthusiasts may need something more.

My seven year old Niece loved this book. The spiral bound, board format is a definite plus point, enabling the pages to lay flat as you attempt the moves. The book comes with a brightly coloured thick string; if the string is ever lost a replacement can be purchased from the supplier. The step-by-step diagrams are easy to follow.

I used to play Cats Cradle in the school playground as a child and it was lovely to share a game with my Niece. A mildly challenging and fun game, which is great for indoors play in the winter. Enables children to share a short game with their family members....parents & carers can take time out during their busy day & have a giggle, as you attempt the tricky string figures together.

Cat's Cradle 16 July 2010

Format:Spiral-bound
An out and out hit with the seven year old granddaughter and her mother, hours of fun. Clear instructions even an adult can follow and so much more than the basic cradle. A must for a real child as no electronics involved.
