Having just got this cd to replace my vinyl original, I notice that there is no review; this fine album certainly deserves one, being just a little too uneven to merit 5 stars. It has survived the decades very well thanks to its strong intelligent lyrics and competent, driving rock.
Jim Carroll wrote the 'Basketball diaries' which was filmed starring DiCaprio - not a bad book or film but I think this album is a more interesting artistic legacy than those. Some themes of the songs will be familiar to anyone who knows the book/film - especially the disturbingly powerful 'people who died'.
If you share my love of solid rock backing lyrics that are less predictable (or deliberately obscure) than is normal, give this a try.
