Synopsis

In The Glass Virgin, the teenage daughter of powerful, plutocratic parents is shocked when her domineering and opinionated father informs her that she is the biological daughter of a prostitute. She furiously severs the ties to her family and resolves to make her own way in the world, finding love and hope in the process. I saw this when it was first released years ago and 'fell in love' with Brendan Coyle. What a believable actor! He is superb, as are all the characters, notably Nigel Havers. I have watched it several times and always see something new that I missed the times before. Living in South Africa, we get fed a lot of American junk on our television which is why I ALWAYS appreciate excellent British drama. The Brits sure know how to make period dramas! I LOVE the fact that British-made films use wonderful character actors. Just loved this one!

This Catherine Cookson was okay, but average. It was predictable and a little far fetched. The story line was good, and neatly acted. Brendan Coyle played well and so did the other actors.
