Synopsis
Filmed on location in the North of England, A Dinner of Herbs is a film based on Catherine Cookson's novel about hardship, betrayal and family life in a 19th century working class town. Roddy and Hal have been friends since childhood, but their closeness is strengthened by the murder of their fathers by the same man. Mary Ellen is also in their circle of friends, but when she is rejected by Roddy after an affair that leaves her pregnant, she turns to Hal for security. Their lives spiral into an explosive and dramatic conclusion.

A new recruit to Catherine Cookson - i love her films... although i enjoyed the first disc better than the second, but i am not going to say why cause it will spoil the film for you... and also do no read the back of the DVD as it will spoil the storyline - a bit like telling you the end before you see it!!

Shows you how hard it was in that time. Also alot of unforgiveness too. Dealing with past hurts and not letting your past hinder your future. Very good story loved the dvd

Cathrine Cookson researches her work well and knowledge of the historical facts surrounding the era the book portrays is excelent.
Her characters are believable and storyline rich. The only beef I had was the actual DVD I felt they left the audience to guess what the storyline was, they taak it for granted that we knew what the charactures wer thinking. Subsequently there seemed to be areas that didn't quite make sence for me. The book explained the plot more clearly.

OKAY
This version on the a garden off herbs was okay, however the acting was quite poor and in the final scenes the actors change which i found strange and confusing.
