Niamh Cusack, known best for her part in Hearbeat, plays a white woman who marries a black man. The natural reaction of the family is to outcast him, except the father of the character that Niamh Cusack plays. Also, the other character that respects him is the white man, in love with her. But she married the black, and when he flees the country after a run-in with her brother, she still won't marry the white man - she is married to the black. This was all around the time when their child has just been born.

He comes back, years later, finds his daughter as a maid; and after some complex events, finally makes contact with the white woman who he married all those years ago. Although, he is dying when they meet, so she only has a few short weeks.

Then this allows he to make a fresh start with the white man who's always stood by her and always loved her, too.

This is a very sensitive subject especially in today's world with all the political correctness..

The story was about Love and in the 1960s when basically the world changed with music, and more or less freedom for people in some aspects..

Tony Armitading and Naihm Cusack give a very high performance in this drama as the title reads..Colour Blind, this sentimetal and tearing story of love found and love lost..but most of all hurt,a child...

great adaptation of excellent novel by late Catherine Cookson

Format:VHS Tape
The story of C Cookson is in itself partly unusual: depicting the sad story of an Irish girl married by a black man, - secondly to me it seems she is not sparing us from the very harsh realities of life. First I thought there were too many cruelties, blood etc in the film, but by the end I realised they were in the right place. This film is full of enthusiasm for life.
It is interesting to become familiar with Irish life through this film. Art Malik is a good actor here too - adds a lot to this film even though he appears only for a brief period. Still, his role is crucial.
I very much recommend this film for home video entertainment. Good actors, good filming everywhere.
