THE COLOUR PHOTOS IN THE BOOK ARE WORTH THE MONEY BUT THE INFORMATION ON CATFISH TYPES LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

This book is worth getting just for the pictures! There are some wonderful photos and although the info in this book is a bit dated, its worth a read in my opinion. Excellent reading for a beginner in the hobby or for someone just looking for ideas of a new purchase. I think the more experienced/more knowledgeable catfish keepers would be reading A LOT of things that they already knew (which was frustrating for me)
BUT I believe this books simplicity and user friendly approach makes it a worthwhile buy.

This book tried to cover alot but covered very little. 17 Jan 1999

This was a interesting book that gave some information but missed the mark by trying to much with to little. It is a good reveiw of some common species and touches on some which are never seen or can not be found. All in all it was of very little use.Plus alot of the information was in question or was contrary to other publications.

when starting out in aquaria, interests widen and curiosity can get one in trouble. impulse buying is normal and questions arise with every passing day. this book is a quick reference and easily affordable (5 stars) for that first time catfish purchase. everyone graduates to the larger and more in depth books but this is a great starter reference!
