Book Description

3 May 2012 Deep in the Heart of Texas (Book 3)

Shirlene Lomax has the world by its tail. She has sass, looks and a filthy-rich sugar daddy who pretty much owns Bramble, Texas. But when he dies, Shirlene finds herself right back where she started-a rundown trailer on the wrong side of the tracks.

Billy "Bubba" Wilkes, also known as William Cates, has an agenda that doesn't include having sex with a gold-digging Texas bombshell. What it does include is revenge for Shirlene's great-granddaddy shooting Billy's great-granddaddy in cold blood. In fact, Billy plans on making the entire town of Bramble pay for the bad luck that has followed his family ever since.

Figuring Billy is only a pit stop on her road to smarter and richer men, Shirlene gives in to her unquenchable desire for the hot hick but she soon discovers that there's more to the hillbilly than a hard body and great sex. He's really a spiteful millionaire holding a big-assed grudge.

Once his scheme is out in the open, Billy expects the entire town to run him out on a rail. What he doesn't expect is their unconditional acceptance but is it too late to capture the heart of a spoiled woman who needs to learn that credit cards can't buy happiness?

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboy lovin'...redneck style! 29 Mar 2012
By ReviewsByMolly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Can we get another yeehaw, cowboy, please?! Oh my. This one was just a fantastic as RC Ryan's book, and another one that I'm adding to my Western bookshelf. Again, Ms. Lane's work is incredible, filled with complex and intriguing characters, and the plot will sweep you off your feet and land you in the heart of Texas. I'm gonna warn you though.....if you read this, hand on to your boots, your hat, your seat-basically, anything you can grab onto-for Bubba and Shirlene will take you on a whirlwind ride!

Talk about coming around full circle, bless Shirlene's heart. Growing up in a mobile home, then marrying into money. Now, she's suddenly left a widow and moves back home to Bramble Texas. Full circle: living in a mobile home, once again. But, seriously? That's not really the problem. The first problem: orphans living in her trailer. The second problem: her rough and rowdy, redneck cowboy neighbor, Bubba Wilkes. Sure he's handsome, but that's not good enough, is it? Could she really fall in love with a redneck?

Bubba has some secrets, one that will turn Shirlene and the town of Bramble to shreds if they knew what it was. But, as Bubba comes to know his beautiful new neighbor, and sees her with the orphans, well, he's just not so sure those secrets should come out.

I loved the way Ms. Lane blended Bubba and Shirlene's stories. Both harbored secrets, both knew what they wanted. But, in the end, love prevails all and brought two broken down people to the top, making them the wealthiest of all. This book is filled with romance, second chances, true love and secrets. Best of all, this book is filled with hunky cowboys, and sweet heroines: the perfect cowboy romance combination. This book is perfect for all who love sexiness and southern drawls. I highly recommend this book with a high flying 5 Book rating, and while part of a series, Ms. Lane does a wonderful job of keeping the reader in place with the events of the past, so it's easily read as a stand alone. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Ms. Lane's fans with her next cowboy story!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Wanna Catch a Cowboy.... 11 Aug 2012
By Kim - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I laughed so much reading this book. I had tears in my eyes. I read the book in two days, because I could not put it down.

Shirlene Dalton was a likeable character from the beginning in Going Cowboy Crazy. I think part of me thought that she was a little shallow, but I never fully realized that she was a true survivor, no matter what.

I read that Ms. Lane pictured Mayberry, a little when she thought of Bramble, Texas. I'm a not old enough to actually remember the show and appreciate it, but I think Mayberry has nothing on Bramble. I mean what will these people NOT do?

Previously, I think I wanted to get as far away from Bramble as I could. But these CRAZY people have really wiggled their way into my heart. Kenney Gene is insane (you find yourself going, really? But sadly, I know there really is someone like him out there), but he really tries to do good and be everyone's friend. Then you have Moses Tate, who's probably the oldest person in town. Trust me, nothing gets by this old man. He reminds of me of the old man from my small hometown. You should never ever think that he's always asleep and has no clue as to what is going on. The people of Bramble definitely have hearts as big as the state of Texas itself.

I don't know if this is the last time we're going to have a chance to visit Bramble, Texas, I really hope not, but if it is, it was really good getting to met all of these people.

I never realized that cowboys (other than the Dallas kind) could be so lovable. I think I want a Bubba.

I can't wait to re-read the whole series again.

Katie Lane is a great writer who kept me interested all the way until the end. Even now, I'm curious about the next book! This would certainly be a book I recommend to someone who wants to have a good laugh about some country folk deep in the heart of Texas.
