Product Description

She had the perfect life - and all she wanted was to escape it. Artisan chocolatier and reluctant matchmaker Annie Devine wants to survive the annual Durna Matchmaking Festival without messing up. She's useless at relationships, and the whole village know it. They've known ever since the day she was left at the altar in her wedding dress. When Jack Miller, charismatic head of Miller Advertising is forced to make an emergency stop on his transatlantic crossing, she mistakes him for a love-lorn bachelor, and sparks fly. Jack's in Ireland to discover his roots, while Annie's desperate to escape hers. Annie longs to win the coveted Chocolate Oscar competition, and claim the ultimate prize, her own shop in Dublin. But with the deadline for Jack's return to New York looming, is she making the right choice?

About the Author

Born into a family of voracious readers and consumed by the family affliction, it seemed the natural next step was to write. I started in school, mentally writing poetry while running around the hockey pitch. Nowadays, I keep my running to a minimum, and write instead. I live in Ireland, and when I’m not reading or writing, am usually to be found in traffic, driving ‘Mum’s taxi.’

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable read! 7 Feb 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a superb read - it grabs you from the opening line with a gorgeous hero, American Jack Miller, blown into the tiny village of Dura in the West of Ireland in a storm. He's a wonderful blend of rugged and sophisticated just like the heroine Annie Devine's many centred chocolates. She is a chocolate maker (I loved the originality here!), has her own share of problems, and meets Jack as he wanders into the middle of a match making festival that she has been volunteered, in true family tradition, to facilitate. The story is multi layered with a plot that twists around the winding lanes of Dura, keeping you on your toes and while romance is the theme, the read will satisfy any lover of a really good story. Sally Clements has a great eye for location, character detail and dialogue and brings these together expertly. She really is an accomplished writer - I'm sure this will be the first of many successes. And what a great cover!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful tale of true love 15 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Any book with the opening words 'Damn it' are worth giving a chance, and I am so delighted that theory paid off. Jack and Annie's tale had me gripped from the very first page.
The characters, both the main ones and the supporting cast, are so well written you feel part of the little village of Durna, and along with them want Annie to find happiness after 'the disaster' (you'll have to read to find out!)
As for Jack, well he's just gorgeous. You'll love them, and you won't want the story to end.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun easy read 15 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I liked the characters (Jack is gorgeous), the writing is easy and page turning, the plot is fun and light ..... this really is only a short read that will while away some happy moments - not life changing or heavweight - but I am very pleased I read it
