A truly fascinating read from an inspirational woman. After being born a different colour to her five siblings, Rosie's life was filled with violence, alcoholic parents, starvation, racism, and fear. It is not surprising that she then began a downward spiral into a deep depression, suffering decades of self-harm, attempted suicides and lengthy stays in psychiatric hospitals. 'Catch Me Before I Fall' is the candid story of Rosie's life and the connections that helped her break away from the pain and find peace with herself. I believe it will provide hope and strength to the many people who have suffered broken and abusive childhoods.

Rosie didn't realise she was a differnt colour to her siblings at first. In fact after a day at a friends house the friends mother found then both in the bathroom with Rosie trying to scrub the dark colour off. Of course it didn't work. Ill-treated and separated from her siblings in the kids home Rosie starts to think that everything that happens is deserved and her fault, so begins the start of the circle of self harm and depression but she manages to come out at the other end as an adult without self-pity. A great book and an unputdownable read.

What a story! 17 April 2006
Format:Hardcover
In this book, there is a story of a childhood which would have scarred anyone emotionally. Despite this, the book is written without the "poor me" attitude which is so often seen. Rosie is honest and matter of fact about her awful start in life. This is the story of an incredible woman who has survived in spite of our Social Services and Mental Health Services Systems. There is a powerful message of hope, a valuable lesson for service workers (for we still treat the symptoms, not the cause of mental illnesses today) and above all, a story of triumph for Rosie. You won't be disappointed with this book. I wasn't.
